This is a sequel of sorts of the previous “happy girl in the snow” post I made (#642).

Medium size after the cut.

I’ve always felt that if I were a flower, I would blossom in the depths of winter.

I combined several CG techniques here that I’ve previously explored. The pose and features were easy, because I used a tracing source (not because I was lazy, but in order to preserve the exact measurements of the subject). However, I made up for it with extensive work on the entirely original clothes, hair, make-up, and jewelry – it takes a masochist to end up drawing bracelets, earrings, a necklace, a watch, and a ring. My favorite spots are the tassels on the scarf, the label on the pants, the earrings, and the charcoal eye-shadow.

I thought it would be interesting to combine a coloring style that I traditionally used for super-deformed characters and apply it to a normally-proportioned person. The result is the very bright and smooth feel to this drawing. I guess it looks a little silly, but it was worth a try. Looks kinda like Momoko, the flamboyant “new-half” from Shangri-La (when she has brown-red long hair at the beginning .. before it turns turquoise haha). There’s also some resemblance to Jun from Maka Maka, but I at least changed the color of the jeans to avoid anything too conspicuous, because Jun’s personality is a total opposite.

I still draw as slow as a snail. This took 7 hours from start to finish.

Edit: Fixed the belt loops!
